Focus and Scope

Dirasah International Journal of Islamic Studies (E-ISSN: 2986-9250) is an international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing critical, theoretically informed, and empirically grounded scholarship on Islamic thought, intellectual traditions, culture, society, and processes of social transformation.

The journal examines how Islamic ideas, traditions, institutions, and cultural practices have developed, interacted with diverse intellectual and social contexts, and responded to historical and contemporary transformations. It seeks to position the study of Islam within broader international scholarly conversations on knowledge, rationality, culture, society, human development, modernity, globalization, technology, and social change.

DIRASAH particularly welcomes comparative, interdisciplinary, cross-cultural, ethnographic, historical, philosophical, and theoretically driven research that contributes to the understanding of Islam beyond purely descriptive, devotional, or normative approaches.

1. Islamic Thought and Intellectual Traditions
Research on Qur'anic thought, Islamic philosophy, theology, epistemology, ethics, intellectual history, Islamic rationality, contemporary Islamic thought, and the development of Islamic intellectual traditions.

2. Islam, Culture, and Social Transformation
Research examining Islam in relation to culture and society, including anthropology of Islam, religious moderation, local and indigenous wisdom, interreligious relations, Muslim communities, social cohesion, identity, globalization, modernity, and cultural transformation.

3. Islam, Human Development, and Social Change
Research on Islamic philanthropy, zakat, waqf, Islamic social finance, poverty alleviation, human capabilities, social justice, inclusion, sustainable development, and the contribution of Islamic institutions to social transformation.
